Submitting on behalf of others as a public user

You may be able to submit on behalf of others if you are nominated to do so. You can request access to an existing recorded person entry that has been created by someone else, or you can request to create an entry on behalf of someone else.

You can request access by visiting the RCI homepage and selecting “Tell us”. You will need to create an RCI Public account if you have not already done so.

You will need to provide the reason and evidence in support of your request. Evidence may take the form of, for example:

  • a power of attorney
  • minutes of a board meeting
  • correspondence from the recorded person, stating that you are authorised to act on their behalf for the purposes of RCI
  • a letter from a solicitor or appointed agent who previously acted on behalf of the recorded person confirming that they no longer act for them in RCI

For evidence to be sufficient to support a request it must clearly state within it, that the person submitting the request has the authority to act on behalf of the recorded person, for the purposes of the RCI.  Evidence that fails to name those persons will not be sufficient.

You will also need to provide information about the recorded person.

If the recorded person is an individual:

  • recorded person reference number (RPRN) if they have already been registered in RCI
  • name
  • contact address

If the recorded person is an organisation:

  • recorded person reference number (RPRN) if they have already been registered in RCI
  • organisation name
  • contact name within the organisation
  • registered office address, or contact address if there is no registered office
  • registered number if they have one

After a request is made

You will receive an email acknowledging your request. We will review your request, and you will be informed of the outcome via email within two working days.

Please note that it is not possible for multiple persons to act on behalf of the same recorded person.
